The Maid of the Mist has been carrying visitors to the base of Niagara Falls since 1846, making it the oldest tourist attraction at Niagara and one of the most iconic boat rides in North America. From the boarding dock at the base of the Prospect Point Observation Tower, an elevator takes you down to river level where you'll step aboard one of two all-electric vessels — the Maid of the Mist VI and VII — the first zero-emission passenger boats built in the United States. The roughly 20-minute cruise glides past the American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls before pushing into the swirling mist and thunder at the foot of the Canadian Horseshoe Falls. Every passenger receives a complimentary Maid of the Mist souvenir poncho. The attraction operates seasonally from late April through early November, weather and river conditions permitting.
